Observation Narrative
Plot was positioned on a broad, slightly convex upper slope and captures a variant of northern red oak forest that prevails over Lone Pine Peak. The vegetation is dominated by Quercus rubra but has scattered Picea rubens and Tsuga canadensis (healthy), and large clones of Osmunda cinnamomea among other more typical herbs. Large boulders, up to 2 m across, are scattered over the ground surface.
