Observation Narrative
Vegetation is a montane floodplain forest along Craig Creek on alluvium weathered from shale. Pinus strobus is evenly distributed in all age / size classes in association with Quercus alba, Liriodendron tulipifera, Carya ovata, and some Acer saccharum and Tsuga canadensis. Platanus occidentalis occurs on the streambanks and Carpinus caroliniana dominates the understory. Both the woody and herbaceous components are diverse and contribute to high species richness.
