Observation Narrative
A lower, wetter floodplain forest than CAMP004, lacking spring ephemerals and with a relatively graminoid-rich, later-maturing layer. The floodplain, overall, has very high cover by the invasive, non-native species Microstegium vimineum, occurring with native herbs, throughout. An area with less Microstegium was located for this sample. Most of this floodplain appears to be somewhat poorly drained but is not a "swamp." Several sloughs on the inner edge of the floodplain do appear to be seasonally flooded and support mostly shrub or herbaceous vegetation.
