Observation Narrative
This plot was sampled in a linear swale, behind and parallel to the levee sampled in CHUB008, adjacent to the Nottoway River. Medium-sized to fairly large, swollen-based Taxodium distichum and Nyssa aquatica co-dominate the overstory, although the former is more abundant. Fraxinus caroliniana is the most common shrub and small tree. The herb layer is sparse or absent in places, with some denser patches of Leersia lenticularis and other characteristic hydrophytes.
