Observation Narrative
This plot is located in Pond S105-14, where T. Rawinski sampled GRAF103-107 along a transect in 1995. Stakes from the 1995 transect where not found in 2010 when this plot was sampled. The plot captures a classic, little disturbed, Nyssa biflora-dominated forested pond. The vegetation is very uniform in the main portion of the wetland, which has a tiny open center. Only one blow down was present, rooted outside plot but with its upper branches lying in southern end of the sample. Water marks on trees range from 15 to 40 cm above the ground.
0-3 cm leaf litter
3-7 cm organic matter / dense roots
7+ cm light brown sandy clay loam, no mottling [ near south end of center of pond - dark brown clay with white mottles]
