Observation Narrative
The plot is located in a Quercus lyrata-dominated depression in an extensive saturated flatwoods. In the lowest area of the plot, water marks on the trees are 17 cm above the ground. It is unclear whether this is truly a pond with distinctive vegetation or a variant of the surrounding wet flatwoods; however, this is the only area seen that had either Quercus lyrata or clear water marks. There is good Quercus lyrata recruitment and herbs are sparse. A large Quercus phellos overhangs the south edge of the plot.
