Observation Narrative
Plot is on a low sand terrace that lies slightly higher than the flat in plot FINR001 but lower than ocean-fronting dunes to the southwest. This habitat was probably formed relatively recently by migration of sand from the higher dunes to the southwest into the interdune swale that lies just north of the plot. Although it continues to be impacted by overwash and storm surges, this habitat is subjectively considered an upland as it is somewhat dry the majority of the time. The vegetation is strongly dominated by Spartina patens, with Panicum amarum ssp. amarum, Solidago sempervirens, and Fimbristylis castanea also frequent.
