Observation Narrative
An elongate, ~one-acre depression with an upland oak-hickory stand. Both the forested wetland and surrounding upland oak-hickory stand are fairly mature, but the area has been disturbed by blow-downs, excessive deer browsing, and invasive exotics, and has become isolated by adjacent roads and residential development. The depression wetland supports a non-alluvial wetland co-dominated by Quercus palustris, Quercus bicolor, and Acer rubrum. Abundant deer-clipped Smilax vines may be an artifact of disturbance. The herbaceous flora is farily diverse, with no clear dominants.
A = brownish sticky clay with orange mottles; siltier on hummocks
