Observation Narrative
A seasonal pond, approximately 1 ha in size and less than 200 meters from the reservoir. Pond may have some hydrologic connection with the lake during high water events. The pond was dry on the survey date. The plot was placed in what seemed to be the wettest portion of the pond. Pine seedlings have established in the western portion of the pond and there are many dead trees. It is unclear if the tree mortality is a function of drought or a chronic hydrologic alteration. Mosses are abundant on logs and on the bases of trees. The moss Climacium americanum is common in the wettest areas.
