Observation Narrative ? A sinkhole wetland occupying about 1.5 hectares, most of which is a large pond slightly separated from a small, higher and drier pond (aka Split Level Pond). Based on visit records by several investigators over the years, this pond rarely draws down for prolonged periods. However, the pond was almost completely dry on the survey date, with an almost continual cover of herbaceous vegetation. Several very prominent species, including Boltonia montana, Hypericum boreale, and Lysimachia hybrida, had not been seen here before. The plot was placed near the eastern edge of the large pond, where a few buttonbush shrubs occur on the border.
