Observation Narrative
A small area (about 0.3 ac) of dune scrub occurring on the backslope and foot of a high, bay-fronting foredune. The bayside and top portions have been sculpted by salt spray. The shrubs are gnarled and multistemmed, branching below breast height. The ground has patches of exposed sand, but is largely covered with leaf litter. Aspect was measured on the backslope of the dune. Myrica pensylvanica, Prunus serotina, and Diospyros virginiana co-dominate the scrub complex.
