Observation Narrative ? A very small, ridge-crest sag pond covering about 21 x 35 meters. Vegetation is extremely depauperate, containing only five species (not including marginal Acer rubrum and Nyssa sylvatica). The Cephalanthus in this pond consists largely of vigorous young shoots. Carex typhina, the dominant herb, occurs in isolation here, far removed from its usual lowland bottomland habitats.
