Observation Narrative
A small, low-statured polyhaline marsh on a depressed tidal sand spit near sandy point at the south end of Jacks Island. Co-dominated by the short form of Spartina alternifolia and Distichlis spicata. Grades to tall, nearly monospecific Spartina alternifolia along a channel to the west, and to beach strand next to the Bay on the east. Considerable areas of this marsh type are present in low marshes of Marks and Jacks Islands on the Bay side of the Eastern Shore, but the majority of interior marsh is dominated by Juncus roemerianus.
