Observation Narrative ? Plot located in the same flatwoods as FAIR051. Habitat is a larger and more deeply flooded depression than that in FAIR051, and the vegetation is dominated by Quercus palustris, rather than Q. phellos. Maximum flood depth is about 45-50 cm. The wetland was completely dry on the date of sampling, although the soil was still moist. The plot captures the depression center, as well as the shallower rim. The center is mostly leaf litter with a small patch of Scirpus cyperinus and Sphagnum in the deepest area, while the rim is more heavily vegetated. In this rim area, small moss-covered hummocks and sphagnum are common around the trees.
