Gorge slope above a class III, IV stretch of the Tygart River. Down river from Arden ca. 3 miles. See plots BARB.2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 for more context. This slope is a disjunct piece of the Pleasant Creek WMA. There is an old forest road crossing the slope ca. 50 m below the plot.;Dense canopied forest of large Quercus rubra. The overstory trees are so large only a few will be in the plot. The forest floor is covered with >10 cm blocky chunks of sandstone colluvium. Many of the rocks are moss covered. Lots of downfall in the plot. It appears to be dead branches from the Large Oaks. No obvious skid trails or sawn stumps within the plot. There is a Red Oak tree in the plot with a dbh of 112 cm. This stand is at least an old second growth forest
