Point is located on the river side of an island separated from the main land by a seasonally flowing backchannel. There are several small patches of this community spread across the island in lower more open areas. The forest community on the terrace above dominated by Acer negundo - Carya cordiformis/ Urtica dioica (BLUE.72). There was a new community type identified on the island. It consisted of several large openings (10 m square) that were dominated by Humulus japonicus. This community is a monoculure of the exotic hops with 100% cover. It grows over everything in it's path. See observation point photo's (BLUE.115e&f).;Open woodland on lower terrace. The terrace is steeply banked to a long slow stretch of river. Although physiognomically this plot is a woodland. A few large sycamores and river birch are spread out along the river but they mostly overhang from the terrace above.
Representativeness
Medium sized patch of a tall herb woodland on a lower terrace. This differs from the others surveyed by having Urtica dioica as the dominant herb. Point was completed while surveyeing the upper terrace for good examples of floodplain forest. Additional no
