Landscape Narrative ? About 150 m to the E (above) is the road leading to the lodge. Down about 50 m to the W is the Blackwater River which is quite loud at this place. Very little human disturbance is apparent, though there are trails somewhat worn adjacent to plot.;Red spruce/Rhododendron forest with many spruce growing on top of large boulders, their roots reach into the ground below. Some larger spruce and hemlock are growing here. A large amount of Bazzania sp. and other mosses are here as well. No forbs other than small Betula and Picea. Large spaces between boulders and roots or boulders and ground. Spaces are large enough to crawl beneath in some places and cool air is circulating from underneath them.
Representativeness ? See aerial phot. Bouldery patch of Picea rubens/Rhododendron. 3 larger spruce (around 60 cm dbh) many younger spruce with dbh less than 7. Some large Tsuga canadensis are in the area as well.
