Discontinuous small patches found on S facing calcerous shale slopes throughout the study area.;Rich forest located in a small bowl below a thin outcrop of calcerous shale. The soil is slippery red mud covered with boulders from the above cliff band. Deer trails criss-cross the steep slope.

Small patch forest community below a thin outcrop of calcerous shale. Rich with a high species diversity. Typical of the Quercus muelenbergii / Fraxinus americana community found in the study area.
