Similar to communities found along the New River. The terrace above the community is an oak- white pine/ river birch successional forest. The Bluestone Turnpike Trail is located across this terrace ca. 60 m.;The point is in an open flood battered PLOC-BENI cobble bar woodland. The point is located inside a bend in the river where it takes a short cut during high water events. Open cobble suggests frequent high energy flooding. The herb layer is currently dominated by spiderwort, however it will probably be dominated by big bluestem later in the season.
