The point is located just across the boundary from Pipestem State Park. The gorge slope north of the point is dissected into a series of sugar maple-basswood coves (BLUE.67) and hemlock-chestnut oak ridge spurs (BLUE.66).;Open forest community dominated by Quercus spp.(scarlet, red, white, and rock). There is heavy white pine regeneration in the S1 layer and lots of sugar maple coming up.
Representativeness
Medium sized patch of an open dry oak forest.This is a community type well represented in the Bluestone Gorge. Additional notes, not found on data sheet were added by BPS 12-15-2005.
