This community appears to be confined to flats above acid shale cliff breaks. Below the cliff band is the Quercus muehlenbergii - Quercus alba rich calcerous forest ( see BLUE.24).;Steep slope just off of the ridge nose. Rocky soil with mudstone fragments. There is an old trail near the top of the plot appears to have been rerouted further up slope. Lots of downfall and tip mounds were observed.
Representativeness
Small patch dry acid clifftop. This is a stand of Pinus virginiana with hickories and Quercus stellata. The plot is once again dominated by oaks and hickories. This time however Pinus virginana is as dominant as any single oak species. Juniperous virginia
