These Pinus strobus communities are associated with areas cleared for farming There is a thin band of large Tsuga canadensis trees growing on the river side of the tail. This Pinus strobus / Tsuga canadensis mixture continues along the trail heading down stream.;Old alluvial terrace. There are several large rock piles surrounding the plot with Liriodendron tulipifera growing from them. Perhaps this land was cleared and farmed. The soil is a deep sandy alluvium, highly acidic (4.75). The Bluestone turnpike trail runs long the river side of the trail.
Representativeness
Small patch acidic floodplain forest. The plot was placed to identify the evergreen signature. The T2 is dominated by Pinus strobus but Tsuga canadensis is found in all but the herbaceous layer.
