This community appears to repeat on high SW acidic coves. Above the plot on the plateau there is a twisted stand of planted pine surrounding a cemetery. This pine community is a discontinous patch which follows the edge of the plataeu back to the Farley Loop trail. South of the plot the forest transitions into the oak - hickory matrix (see BLUE.38). Further south from this point there is a Pinus virginiana clifftop community (see point A072821A.cor).;Fire scars are found on most of the larger T2 trees. Old logged stumps and skid roads are found throughout the plolygon. The cove is cool and acidic. The plot is dominated by Tsuga but oak is coming up in the polygon Quercus (coccinea, prinus, alba).
Representativeness
Small patch, acidic high cove. The T2 is dominated by Tsuga canadensis. The S1, S2 and herbaceous layers are depauperate with Rhododendron being the only thing with above trace coverages. This plot is very similar to BLUE.36. It differs by being steeper
