Up slope from the plot is a cool acid cove dominated by Quercus rubra, Tsuga canadensis, and Pinus strobus. Towards the river on the terrace is a small clump of hemlock. Along the river is a linear herbaceous cobble bar (BLUE.39).;There is a trail and an old fence line running along the river side of the plot. The area was probably cleared for agriculture at one time. The forest looks early successional. No recent signs of floods. Soils are staturated at 30 cm. The plot seems to be located in a depression.
Representativeness
Small patch forest on a disturbed alluvial terrace. The overstory is dominated by Liriodendron tulipifera and Pinus strobus. Similar to plot BLUE.34 but Pinus strobus is not as dominant here. The plot was placed to identify the evergreen signature.
