This community is found in small linear bands along higher gradient sections of the Bluestone River. The Bluestone turnpike trail is only 20 m north of the plot. Above the trail to the NW is a weedy forest community (BLUE.44). West of the plot and slightly north is a wet woodland (BLUE.43).;The plot is seasonally flooded and has obviously flooded this year. All the shrubs are gnarled and twisted. The topography of the plot undulates between flood scoured lows and rocky sandy highs held together by perennial roots.
