The toe slope below this plot, ca.150m., is a successional Tulip poplar-sugar maple forest (see BLUE.75). Along the river is a large wet floodplain forest with patches of Platanus occidentalis-Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Betula nigra/Lindera, and a hodge podge of old field woodland dominated by an S1 of Rosa multiflora.;Steep forested gorge slope with trees that show apparent signs of slope creep. The photo signature here shows up as a dark shadow. The plot appears to be dry but rich. The forest is somewhat open with a very sparse shrub layer. This is a dry red and rock oak forest with sugar maple coming up in the T3.
Representativeness
This is a large patch somewhat rich but dry oak forest. The plot was place to represent the opposite aspect of our calcareous Quercus muehlenbergii forest on the other side of the river. This is similar to plot Blue.71.
