Downslope continues oak ericad on soil with similar floristics.;This is a rocky spit with bedrock ledges with westerly and northerly aspects. The community is a short statured forest dominated by Quercus prinus with Pinus strobus over an ericad shrub layer of patch dominant Vaccinium stamineum (above ledge) and Kalmia latifolia (below ledge). Bedrock supports lush growth of lichens and mosses. Charcoal is present in the soil.
Representativeness
This is a small patch community on rocky shoulder ledges. The plot was centered on a westerly aspect of a spit. The community extends slightly to a northerly aspect with increased bryophyte cover.
