Near boundary with Brooke Hills Park which has ridgetops developed for recreation and ravines are mostly successional forest. Also nearby is a patch of black gum / New York fern.;Rolling uplands with mixed geology, this site probably on more acidic substrate. Concave microtopography may provide some seepage but site is not a wetland. Forest is strongly dominated by sweet gum in all strata. There is a tip mound and rotten downfall in plot and no evidence of past logging. Spicebush is abundant in tall shrub layer and there is thick regeneration by white ash in the short shrub layer.
Representativeness
Small patch dominated by sweet gum, unlike any other forest we have seen in WV, possibly another successional forest varient or more likey a plantation.
