Large tract of forest land managed by the state for both timber and recreation purposes. There is a recent, if not active logging job on the south face of this knob ~300m away. Downslope northwest ~400m is cabin 14 and Sweetwater Branch. The forest just above the cabin is a mixed evergreen deciduous forest of hemlock, beech and cucumber magnolia. To the south, the forest was dry oak. There is a large sandstone cliff ~30 m tall about 40m below the plot.;Dry scarlet oak/mountain laurel forest growing on a northwest facing shoulderslope. Most, if not all of the overstory trees are painted (likely marked for logging). There are several S1 white pine and hemlock scattered in the plot. There is no noticeable contemporary anthroplogic disturbance in the plot other than the timber markings.
