East northeast aspect of slope on opposite side of hill where plots CABW.3 and 4 were placed. From top of slope, the "virgin" forest extends as far downhill as this plot. Below the plot ~.2 miles north is the west fork of Twelve Pole Creek.;Very large black walnut in plot with an abundance of T3 and S1 sugar maples over thick herb layer of Hydrastis, Christmas fern and Clear weed. S2 dominated by Spice bush. A number of large downed Red oaks in plot. In upper part of plot a large rock has intact herb layer on top where deer cant browse.
Representativeness
Plot was placed to capture wetter slope with mixed mesophytic Walnut-Basswood-Sugar maple canopy. Similar to mixed-mesophytic forest sampled throughout West Virginia. Here there is less stinging wood nettle.
