Successional types in drained beaver pond include patches of bulrush, shrubby St. John's wort, burreed, rice cutgrass.;Herbaceous wetland in the bottom of a small stream drainage surrounded by steep, forested slopes. Plot is just upstream from confluence which was once a large beaver pond (shows on SAMB2003 photography). This mixed herb type may be more persistant than the patchy successional types in the drained beaver pond. Similar herb wetland continues upstream, punctuated by abandoned beaver dams.
Representativeness
Plot spans the width of a narrow wetland corridor and includes a small entrenched stream channel which has a monoculture of bur-reed. May be considered two community types - to make pure subtract Sparganium and water.
