Large tract of public land owned by the state and managed as a WMA. Much of the forest observed has been successional sycamore-tulip poplar or black cherry-red elm. Downslope from the plot ~50m is an intermittent tributary of Castleman Run. Across the stream is Counselman's Hill Rd.;Somewhat rich forest dominated by shagbark hickory-red oak with sugar maple coming up in the T3, S1 and S2 layers. The forest floor is covered with herbs. Mostly white snakeroot and dolls eyes. There are obvious signs of deer herbivory on many of the herbs and low shrubs.
