Spruce and fir death; new pond is south of here (beaver or man?). Road, once maintained with culvert now frequently (always?) inundated. Tallest tree is spruce at 18 m. Running water through plot. Plot revisit by Brian Streets on 6/7/05: Open sunny evergreen woodland swamp with saturated soil. Plot appears to be partially flooded by an active beaver pond. Dominant vegetation: Abies balsamea - Tsuga canadensis - Picea rubens / Hypericum densiflorum / Carex gynandra - Carex folliculata - Carex atlantica - Triadenum fraseri - Lycopus uniflorus.
