Surrounded by herbaceous wetland with scattered canopy trees (both hardwood and softwood).;Of the northeast tributary of Coopers wetlands this appears to be the last stand of fir with live fir. Downstream standing dead fir. This island a mix of spruce, hemlock, fir; herbaceous to shrubby understory; very wet (cattails) to drier. Very dry hummocks/tip mounds with lichen and vaccinium. Plot revisit by Brian Streets 6/7/05: Open sunny evergreen woodland swamp, somewhat drier than CASP.8&10. The edge of this community is being invaded by Typha. Dominant vegetation: Picea rubens - Abies balsamea - Tsuga canadensis / Alnus incana ssp. rugosa / Vaccinium myrtilloides / Carex gynandra - Glyceria sp. - Typha.
