The community is surrounded by Canaan Valley State Park so the only threats are deer herbivory and hikers.;Relatively undisturbed. Some game trails (beaver/deer?) in the "hollow". Early successional. Beaver keep the area flooded preventing the forest from encroaching. Pronounced Polyrichum hummocks with sedges, herbs and low shrubs above Sphagnum hollows.
