Railgrade rises to south east forming an artificial berm. Open field (managed ) to the west, Pin oak swamp (CHOH.4) to south west, river to the north.;Remnant stand of floodplain forest with some recent single-tree removals. This stand sits on a flat terrace immediately adjacent to the Potomac River and about 8 m above the current water level of the river. Many large trees that are partly dead at the tops. Old RR tie in plot, some plastic haybale covers, and an old barrel.

Mapped as 4073 in CHOH veg map. Plot was placed to minimize edge effects of adjacent field and railgrade, and capture typical portion of floodplain forest within this stand.
