The area is a floodplain terrace within the CHOH NHP boundary (or very near). To the SE ca. 30 m is an old rail grade. To the NW is a thin patch of logged rich floodplain forest (4073) beyond that is an open field, and then another patch of 4073. To the W ca. 100 m the forest was mapped as a maple ash swamp (6548). However it has been selectively logged. To the E is more 4073. See plots CHOH.1,2,3 for more context.;Narrow patch of forest dominated by Quercus palustris. The stand is thin with lots of edge effect created by old railgrade and an open Verbesina alternifolia woodland. The plot has a dense and somewhat weedy herb layer. There are several small flow channels within the stand. One Quercus bicolor tree was noted roughly 100 m from this stand.
