Large patch of state park managed lands. There is a trail 20m upslope from the plot. Downslope ~.5 miles is the right fork of Buffalo Creek. The coves here are like this plot there are drier oak forests on the noses similar to CLSP.1 and 2. There are also several small patches of Quercus muehlenbergia see plot CLSP.7.;Shady deciduous forest growingon an easterly apsect. The soils are circumneutral and the S1, S2 and herb layers are somewhat dense. There are signs of a lush spring flora, such as Caulophyllum stalks with fruits but no leaves, squirrel corn roots exposed during soil collection. Many of the herbs and low shrubs show signs of deer herbivory. There is also quite a bit of windthrow in plot.
Representativeness
Large patch of Tilia americana-Liriodendron tulipifera/Aesculus flava/Diplazium pycnocarpon forest. Somewhat mesic and very rich. Similar to mixed mesophytic forest at NERI only here it seems drier.
