Plot sits on the mid to upper slope of the Boardinghouse Hollow which cuts a drainage feeding into Buffalo Creek at the bottom of the mountain. About 150m uphill runs the Wildnerness trail.;Fairly steep slope draining into a wash just northwest of plot. Very open canopy with many Vitis vines, some extraordinarily large, growing into T3 and T2 strata. Herb layer increases in density as you move from the drier, steeper slope of the plot to the wash cut. There are an abundance of large downed limbs and tree trunks scattered outside of and throughout the plot.
Representativeness
Plot was placed to capture documented location of Guayandote beauty as well as large buckeye.
