Landscape Narrative ? Away from wetland center is a more open and wetter woodland and bog before coming to an upland edge with northern hardwoods.;Swamp woodland of mixed conifers with dense tall shrub layer of evergreen Rhododendron. Hummocky topography seems formed by vegetation clumps with soft mucky hollows where skunk cabbage dominates. Low herb diversity due to low light or wet soil. Young spruce are likely to replace hemlock over time. Hemlock are chlorotic, short and sparsely foliated.
Representativeness ? Edge of swamp woodland where scattered Larix are prominent - medium cover by Rhododendron chosen to facilitate sampling and increase diversity.
