Large shrub/herb wetland complex in an open valley setting. Logged in the early 1900's. Beaver activity seems to have had a major influence on community patterning. Resulting in long narrow community zone which traverse the valley.;Narrow zone of herb community between Vaccinium hummock community to the dry side (upslope) and Alder towards the small tributary creek. Wet soils maintained by apparent shallow bedrock, which may explain exclusion of Alder. Seems wetter than the Alder community, like a moat.
Representativeness
Small patch linear zone about 6 meters wide dominated by Carex folliculata. Deviated from strict rectangular plot to exclude Vaccinium community fingers and Alder overhang.
