Landscape Narrative ? Over cliff edge is Northern Hardwood forest. Rocky ground away from glade has open woodlands with dense ericad thickets.;Open sandstone glade on gently sloping bedrock with deep fissures near a cliff edge. Glade has open areas on rock pavement, dense low thickets of heaths and scattered red maple and hemlock, many with dead tops (probably due to drought stress), and low areas which accumulate water and have clumps of Andropogon glomeratus or mosses and lichens.
Representativeness ? Plot includes open rock areas and shrub thicket with some scattered trees. Away from this most open aspect are thicker shrublands with only scattered trees due to the slow succession on rocky substrate.
