Large wetland complex in protected wildlife refuge.;Very large hummocky peatland. Some old roots of large trees present (remants of presettlement forest). Peat is deeper than the auger and seems to be accumulating quickly (little decomposition). Some deer trails are incised and possible old ATV tracks, but they are not disrupting community.
Representativeness
This part of the large peatland is dominated by chokeberry and velvet -leaf blueberry. It is typical of the large red infrared photo signature. Some areas are wetter (cranberry and more sphagnum) and Aspen clones dot the area.
