Part of a large protected wetland complex, in the National Wildlife Refuge;High quality dwarf shrubland on well developed hummocks, over deep peat. This shrubland is probably slowly moving toward a taller shrubland with winter holly + wild raisin + other shrubs. A few remnant roots of large trees, presumably from pre-settlement forest.
Representativeness
This is a large, high quality occurrence of chokeberry - blueberry - cranberry hummocked peatland. It is similar to other dwarf shrub peatlands we've seen but larger with very large well-developed hummocks and even distribution of species across hummocks.
