Landscape Narrative ? Downslope of hay fields and Route 32. On the northeast corner of a "lake" (impoundment). Surrounded by Solidago rugosa on two sides (E/W) and Juncus on the downhill side. Stream runs adjacent to one side of plot.;Before acquisition by CVNWR, the area was probably grazed. Human use adjacent to lake may also impact. Fir (mature) dying. Good regeneration adjacent to mature fir. One edge is dense young (2-4 m tall) growth.
Representativeness ? This is not a typical Abies stand in WV. May be planted. This site much denser, drier fir. Only in this pocket.. Very small footprint of stand. I could only fit a 100m2 plot to avoid edges. Total area approximately 400-500m2 of stand. I put this plo
