This plot is located in a recently timbered forest . It was chosen because of its limestone geology. The forest is mixed mesophytic mostly Tilia americana and Acer sacchrum. However it is believed that the trees that were harvested were Red Oak. There are several large canopy gaps created by the recent harvest. These areas are densely covered with herbs, Ageratina altissima, Aster divaricatus, and Brachyelytrum erectum dominate.
Representativeness
The plot is representative of the mixed mesophytic forest found on the thin limestone band in the Briery Mtn. tract.
