Circa 500 m west of the plot the forest transitions to mixed-mesophytic and has been heavily logged. The slope is criss-crossed with logging roads and the forest floor is densley covered with Laportea canadensis. The plot is located on a ridge spur. The property boundary is located ca. 100 m south of the plot.;Mature stand of forest. Fire scars observed on many of the larger trees. Several large decaying stumps (ca. 80 cm dbh) and lots of windthrow found within the plot. The forest floor is sparsely covered with vegetation. The S1 and H layers are practically non-existent. Several old (75% decayed) 30 m long, downed trees in plot. No noticable contemporary logging signs within the patch.
