There is a seep similar to our plot sampled earlier today located SW circa 50 m. It is larger and more open. Although it is more open because many of the trees on the surrounding upland have been logged. In between this plot and the last is an old log landing. The old Briery Mountain boundary is roughly 50 m NW of this plot.;Repeatedly logged mid-successional forest. Sawn stumps in various states of decay found throughout the community. The forest here is somewhat dry and sterile. And appears to have undergone multiple timber harvests. The area is dissected by several old skid trails. The area resembles much of Briery Mountain subxeric oak forest. Only slightly more mesic with heavy regeneration by Liriodendron tulipifera and lots of Osmunda claytonia growing in the lows between the stumps and trees.
Representativeness
Medium sized patch of a sub-xeric oak forest, with heavy succession by tulip poplar. Most of the oak seems to have been logged out (high grade cut). Making this sub-xeric oak forest look more like the successional forest of the lower elevation plateaus.
