To the northwest, the forest quickly grades to successional tulip tree forest. To the southeast is a dry-mesic oak. Noise form the campground across the reservoir is available from the plot.;Upper middle slope of a steep cove above an outside bend of what used to be a river (now reservoir). Slope is somewhat terraced and slightly gullied in cove. Community is deciduous mixed-mesophytic forest with sugar maple, basswood, magnolia, shagbark over a shrub layer of paw-paw and spicebush. Herb layer is not lush, but includes many typical mesophytic ferns and forbs.
