Above plot is a gated road which leads up to County Road. Dry aspects support oak - hickory forest (see ELKR.1). Hemlocks scattered on this aspect, mostly in the sub-canopy. Much of area has successional tuliptree. To the south is end of older forest, becomes pole to medium.;Lower east facing slope above an intermittent stream drainage. Community is a deciduous forest dominated by large tall red oak and basswood with hickory, sugar maple, tuliptree and beech. Sparse shrub layer may reflect deer browse. Herb layer is dominated by christmas fern, but spring flora skeleton (e.g. blue cohosh) are evidence of more diverse flora.
